Human Nature collaborated with Woolpert, Inc., 3CDC, and the Downtown Pedestrian Task Force to transform Court Street, between Vine and Walnut, into a vibrant and pedestrian-oriented civic space that can provide flexibility for programming and encourage strong indoor/outdoor spaces for adjacent businesses. The simple and bold urban design framework, mostly hardscape, allows for maximum flexibility. The vision reduces parking and vehicular access to a minimum while creating a pleasant, human-scaled environment that strengthens the sense of place of the Court Street District. The plan captures the intersections at Vine and Walnut as important gateways/thresholds into the space, integrates adequate infrastructure for programming, and integrates special paving and elements that enrich the experience of the space.
