The University of Cincinnati transformed its athletic facilities. The Athletic Center is a five story building that consolidates all athletic offices and training facilities. A new 3,500 seat baseball stadium, new athletic practice fields, tennis courts, soccer and track fields, parking garage and underground gymnasium are components of the plan. The Varsity Village, adjacent to the Nippert Stadium and Shoemaker Center, is a major campus node and crossroads for everyday student activities. Human Nature was a member of the multi-disciplinary design team that included ME Companies, Glaserworks and Bernard Tshumi Architects, with a focus on site design and detailing. All components and details of the design are highly integrated with not only major events but everyday student life. The complex nature of this site required vehicular, pedestrian and sports facilities on top of below grade structures such as a parking garage and gymnasium with seamless integration and function on the surface.
